Yesterday
was paper work catch up.
Today was
errands. The list was accomplished in an hour because I can walk from my house
all around the village and get everything done. So happy I gave up a car in
1993 and have never looked back, although I do borrow or rent a car from time
to time. Plus I’ve saved (or spent) several hundred thousand Swiss Francs freed
up by the decision not to be a slave to an automobile.
Threw out
bottles at center two blocks away and took a photo for Dumb, dumb, dumb blog.
Stopped at
La Noisette to talk to Roy and Daphne.
Stopped at
jewelers to tell them how much I like the gift for me they sold to Rick to give
to me and to see if they can match my diamond with the ring we’ll get for our
commitment ceremony in August. Didn’t look for rings for him, because I want
him with me when I buy it. Left off watch for new pile.
Bought a
battery for the doorbell and had copies made of a document I needed at the
Tabac.
Walked home
to change battery in doorbell to discover it worked—a bit. Thing won’t shut
off. Hope Rick can solve it. Meanwhile people on the street can still call to
me the original type of intercom.
Went to
post to mail letters to future mother-in-law, friend’s grandfather who I send
post cards to from every place I go, change of address for retirement payment
information. They had a 5 not a 4 Swiss zip code.
Took the
duplicate keys my friend loaned me to have new duplicates made.
Went to the
grocery more for things like dish soap, toilet paper (and they say life is
fascinating when you live in Europe) hair spray, shampoo, conditioner.
Came home
to find all keys work including post box and retrieved several Nations left by a friend.
Didn’t need
to buy any food because today—lunch at Barteveille, my favourite restaurant,
which I can also walk to.
Life is
good.
