I first read the term Economic Royalist being attributed to FDR. I'm reading Blanche Weissen Cook's trilogy on the life of Eleanor and found the conditions, attitudes and propaganda spewed not that different in January 2026.
The Economic Royalists were the top businessmen, the extremely wealthy that just couldn't see any need for caring about anything else than their own wealth.
Forget the workers who made the products or dug the coal or handed out services. Make sure they didn't unionize.
Don't worry about safety of food or and products. Fight against the regulations.
Worker safety? More stupid regulations that cut into profits.
Clean air, clean water? Pshaw why would that be necessary?
Voting? Limit it. Make it harder to vote.
Education? Limit it in content. Ban books, true historical facts.
Affordable housing? Let's buy up the houses and rent them at unaffordable prices.
What is frightening to see since the 1930s not much has changed.
The Economic Royalist names are different, tech leaders, a bookseller, oil barons, but the damage they do hasn't been different.
