"Marro," www.cafedesmarronniers.com/, is not only our favourite restaurant, it is almost an extension of our house. The wait staff Roberto, Fred and Adrien plus the manager Antonio, are people we see more often than some of our friends. The food, especially the menu du jour is always great. Because one can have everything from an exceptional pizza, traditional fondue, to a gourmet meal, it is a good place for us because it fits all appetites and moods.

Good food, good service, good ambiance what more do you want?

It wasn't always like that.

The previous owner was a bit of grouch but each Christmas he sealed off the terrace and put out a Christmas display where every square inch was covered with glitz and kitsch. It was a tradition to check it out.

Under the new management, there's still a Christmas display where two months ago we were eating outside in warmth. The display is now understated in comparison and fun to look at as we munch away on the menu du jour.

I personally love the mama polar bear with her baby.
