Notice!
Can you find the U.S. on the list. Most civilized countries have a freer press than the U.S.
All the countries above have more press freedom than the U.S. The U.S. was rated 64th out of 120 countries by Reporters Without Borders. https://rsf.org/en It is worth a look at their website to see their work.
Here's another way to look at why in the U.S. you can't trust the news you are exposed to. Or worse not exposed to.
What happened to the allegedly rescued airmen in Iran? Follow up on boats destroyed by U.S. attack allegedly to stop drug running? Just two examples. Only now are comparisons coming out between Obama's and Trump's Iran deals. It should have been pointed out on day one.
And it is about to get worse. CNN may not be the best but it is about to go under the umbrella of the Ellisons. Paramount/Skydance has won the blessing on the Justice Department to buy out Warner who owns CNN.
There is some hope. People like California Attorney General Rob Bonta wants to fight it.
News source companies are no longer owned by journalists. They are owned by businesses who are also media companies whose goal is money and/or propping up political power.
Some of the big share holders are banks who have their fingers in several sources.
Almost every TV news station, newspaper, major magazine, cable station is owned by these people/corporations. An interest in truth it is an after thought.
They control radio stations television and cable stations, magazines, entertainment and more. They shape the facts to what they want the people to believe. They rely on the ignorance that has been promoted for decades with bad schools as well as people not looking deeply into what they are being told. They are:
