A tale of two ages

We touched two ages yesterdays.

Rick and I were at an invitation only Cannes Airport lunch. The airport specializes in business aviation. The reason was more of a meet and greet for the press. At the entrance to the airport were some wonderful small planes as below as well as the latest and the best.

We allowed enough time to get lost from Monaco, but this time we found it directly. Near the entrance to the airport we saw a sign directing us to a 14th century chapel.

We parked and walked up the path. The death of a 400-year tree by "meteorological" causes in September 2009 was marked over. The stump had a beauty in itself and we could only imagine the history of the area that the tree had lived through.

Signs along the way gave us a bit more information.

Birds were perched on top of the chapel bell tower. Behind the chapel was a forest of cypress trees ladened with their puffy brown cones. Were the same kinds of trees there when the monks were at prayer?

Glancing at our watches, we realised it was time to go from the 14th to 21st century. Two ages in less than 20 minutes. The relativity of time.
