Why does he love Russia so?

In the 1950s I was one of those kids that hid under my desk, covering my head as we prepared for a nuclear bomb from Russia.

I've lived through fears of the Russian including:

  • The Berlin Airlift
  • The Berlin wall going up
  • The Cuban Missile Crises
  • The invasion of Czechoslovakia
  • And more

I've also had the pleasure of visiting a friend in St. Petersburg and seen the incredible beauty and history of that city. It was impressive what they did in WWII which helped end the war. I also saw the downside of living there through the same time I was alive in the U.S. and there's no comparison to which is better.

The difference between people and leaders can be vast.

I've lived in enough, read enough history to know there's two or more sides to every problem. Much of what happened and is happening never reaches the brains of the mass of citizens. Only after meeting Palestinians did I understand their side, for example.

What I will never understand is how an American president can side with Russia who is hell bent on the destruction of not just the U.S. but the west.

Trump has said about Putin: "He went through a phony witch hunt where they used him and Russia… Russia, Russia, Russia—you ever hear of that deal?—that was a phony Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, scam. Hillary Clinton, shifty Adam Schiff, it was a Democrat scam. And he had to go through that. And he did go through it, and we didn’t end up in a war. And he went through it. He was accused of all that stuff. He had nothing to do with it. It came out of Hunter Biden’s bathroom."

I lived through that and didn't rely just on American news. I check the news from several countries to get a multi-sided picture.

Even as a writer with an over-active imagination the idea of Putin and Trump, hand-in-hand going thru the investigations is mind boggling. I just can't picture Putin tossing and turning in bed at night because of the investigation.

More and more articles are saying Trump is a Russian asset. As much as I hate to support any conspiracy theory, Trump's actions and comments about Russia give it a credence that social media cannot.

Now Donald Trump’s Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has ordered a halt to work to counter Russian cyber threats. They have been told to downplay those threats.

Cyber warfare might be better than nuclear warfare, but both can endanger the U.S.

Whether Trump is an asset or not, his actions are dangerous, as dangerous as doing away with vital services that make the country run.

What I also wonder about is why so many Republicans are supporting this man...
