My New Hero

 

Dean Withers is in his early twenties. He could be my great grandson. If all of his generation and the generations between our ages had his knowledge, the U.S. would not be on the point of  self destruction. He is my hero and I've always been very, very slow to think of anyone as my hero or heroine.

He asks MAGA supporters why they believe as they do. And then he barrages them with facts off the top of his head totally destroying what the caller said. Despite showing disbelief often or pointing out that the speaker has said two or more contradictory things or something so out of the range of reality he is polite. 

Since I'm a natural skeptic, I periodically double check this young man. He has always, always, always been accurate. 

His grasp of the facts is incredible.

Born into a conservative family in Colorado, his own research led him to realize what is truth and what is fiction or propaganda.  

I am walking under a cloud of despair over the state of the U.S. at the moment, but this young man gives me hope for the future if there are more like him out there or he can convince enough people.
