Sunday is when the painters of the community set up their easels in the Place du Republque by L'Ecole de Musique and the cafe. This is only two blocks from our flat.
We often find Pauline, Miloud, Chris, Cecelia and Marco there with their easels. Other friends may be drinking coffee and watching the painters paint.
Today there were less artists, but their wares were out for all to see and hopefully buy.
I've always liked story paintings, those where I can imagine more than just shapes and colours. In Mary Cassatt's work, I wonder what the women are talking about as they sip their tea, and is the mother telling her daughter a story as she gives the child her bath.
I spied a painting by Denise Pompidor, a local resident. It was a sewing/knitting trunk. I could wonder how well the owner could create a sweater or do embroidery. Who made the case?
We bought it. We do try and support local artists if we find work we like.
Now we need to hang it.
