In Ceret I spied a cute poster using sheep which reminded me of the battle of the sheep in Swiss politics. The UDC/right party has used sheep with a racist black sheep standing for foreigners to be kicked out of the country for referendums.
The opposition took it to the next level by showing multi-colored sheep kicking the UDC out. The caption reads, we are not sheep in French. For those not familiar with Swiss politics, the UDC is one of the major parties.
Sheep may not deserve to be used as subjects of racism despite all the black sheep cliché. Most are content to be a field munching grass.
Symbols, however can be far more powerful than words.
Poor sheep.
