Pulling off the French autoroute in an Aire on the way to Bordeaux, we saw a mother duck chaperoning her babies. They tended to wander off, go up to the males, or head for the small lake. She was busy rounding them up and keeping them in line.
Then another car pulled off and parked. A man, a macho-looking one at that, sat for a few minutes and looked out his window.
The man watched a few more minutes, smiling at the ducklings almost constantly before going back to his car and driving away.
