I wish the people who spew hatred for illegal immigrants coming into the U.S. would have to live six months in their shoes -- if they would have shoes.
Most are from countries whose governments, often supported by the U.S., are corrupt. Crime is rampant. Chances of employment have been damaged by NAFTA. Poverty is constant.
Why don't they come in legally people ask. Pardon me while I bend over in laughter. Obviously those who ask, never had to deal with the U.S. Embassy on a serious matter. It is not set up to process those that are seeking asylum, which is a human right. To be fair to get living permission in most countries is a long, drawn out process.
From Wikipedia: "The right of asylum (sometimes called right of political asylum; from the Ancient Greek word ἄσυλον)[1][2] is an ancient juridical concept, under which people persecuted by their own country might be protected by another sovereign authority, like a second country or another entity which in medieval times could offer sanctuary. This right was recognized by the Egyptians, the Greeks, and the Hebrews, from whom it was adopted into Western tradition. René Descartes fled to the Netherlands, Voltaire to England, and Thomas Hobbes to France, because each state offered protection to persecuted foreigners."
Most of the "illegal" immigrants aren't going to the U.S. for the American dream or a handout. They are looking for survival.
Most of the people who are anti seem to be without a shred of sympathy for the plight of these fellow humans. I wonder if the U.S. broke out in a civil war and these same people had to flee their home. Could they go to Canada? Mexico? Both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans are too vast to risk a tiny boat crossing.
Could these people walk thousands of miles in the hope that someone would take them and their family in? How many doors would be slammed in their face.
Maybe it is human nature to have a I've got mine tough for you outlook on life. Probably many call themselves Christians, but I doubt if Christ would approve.
What would you do in their shoes? Imagine the
U.S. torn apart by civil war or climate disaster? Could you walk to
Canada? If you need to survive and there was no way the Canadian embassy
would deal with you would you risk being an illegal to survive?
