Dancing in the Square
Several times during the summer there are dances in the Place de la Republique. Bands with or without singers or disc jockeys play. Neighbours, friends and sometimes strangers (who are not strangers by the end of the night) sit at long tables around the edge of the square.
Monday and Tuesday were both dance nights, but last night was finished off with fireworks shot from the church tower because of the holiday this week.
The music was French and American pop. Somehow dancing to "Itsy Bitsy Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" was extra fun when sung in French.
Of course, it is all free and fun.
