"Avez-vous la carte grise?" They asked Rick at the car dealership where we'd bought our much used and much previously loved car. I still don't understand why you buy a car, then go to the Marie to order the plates which are sent to the car dealer. The obvious answer.
It's France, don't ask.
Rick put the folder on the counter.
Empty except for the car dealer's business card.
"Est-ce que nous avons besoins de la carte grise?" I asked.
She told us if we knew our plate number it would be okay.
We didn't.
Back to Argelès for la carte grise. It was a beautiful day.
Canigou was out in all its snow-covered joy, the apple trees are in
bloom as are the cherry trees. The mimosa are fading but still have an
interesting shade of yellow.
Back to the car dealer. It's only 8 K and gave them the correct paperwork.
Remi put on our new plates. DD-910-AV (66) Rick said it is easy to remember...Digital Donna, 910 one day short of 9/11 and AV for aviation. The man is an aviation journalist.
When Rick's karma worked and we found a parking place behind the library (parking in the village where streets are two arm lenghts wide or less is impossible). It was the first time we'd looked at the front of the car since leaving the house. someone had a sense of humour with the hood/bonnet of the car.
