When Rick walks Sherlock in the morning, often his reward is a beautiful sunrise. This morning's he posted on Facebook with a message to our good friend and treasure Karrie, who walks at dawn through the countryside almost every morning.
She responded with her own photo.
We are about to loose Karrie. As internationals we are used to people enriching our lives than moving on. Some we keep in touch with electronically, some we still see. Some fade away.
Karrie has been our carpe diem friend and role model, because she illustrates how to grab the most from each minute. She is heading back to her native England and a series of new discoveries. We have enjoyed not just her humor, her art, her cooking, her ideas, but the serious talks we've had.
I suspect she will be a person who will not fade away. We will visit her in her new cottage in the UK. We will see her discoveries on Facebook. She will stay in our hearts, memories and souls.
And with each sunrise that we see, we will think of her -- suspecting she is enjoying her sunrise gift too.
