Leave My Computer Alone

I was happily working away on my novella, Sugar and Spice. I needed to go to the bathroom. Everything was working fine.

When I came back, my quotation marks were French and the language keyboard was no longer qwertz. It wasn't quite qwerty either. When I look at the symbol in the lower right hand corner where I can switch the keyboard back to where I had the keyboard in French, it was gone.

I do what I usually do after failing several steps to correct the problem, I call my husband.

I assume this is another unwanted update.

After too much of his good time on this unnecessary stupidity and attack by the techies, he has corrected most of the problems although the computer is still not set up exactly as I wanted it.

Those changes cost me time and frustration. Yes, I'll get used to them, but I'm thinking of creating a voodoo doll of all techies who fool with my computer and have the dog bite off all their fingers. Inserting a little gangrene would make me feel better.

I want to turn on my computer without all those disgusting popups, sales pitches and program changes. In other words

LEAVE MY COMPUTER ALONE
