Trump said for 150 years American presidents wanted a ballroom.
Hmmm? I doubt that.
There's no written record of their hopes for a grand ballroom. They did very well without one.
Princess Diana seemed to be very happy when she danced at the White House. At no point did she say she'd rather be in a large ballroom.
Jackie Kennedy and other First Ladies and Presidents did very well hosting events featuring all types of artists. She never said she needed a ballroom.
Many Presidents and their First Ladies thought that it important to have musicians, plays, writers gracing an evening without a ballroom.
And most of all they didn't tear down the People's House. When changes were made it was for repairs and small additions like a swimming pool to help a crippled president. A rose garden (also destroyed) added to the beauty without destruction of the main building. Electricity was added in 1891 when Benjamin Harris was president but it was part of an overall wiring of important Capital building.
America is more than money, although that is hard to believe with this president and his cronies. Everything for them comes down to money.
Those who think only of money are poor indeed.
