Correfoc

First there are the drums beating, beating, beating.

Then the sounds of fireworks exploding.

The dancers move closer as the drums continue. We can make out the devils costumes.

Then they are upon us, twisting and turning.

Some of the dance spit fire into the air.

And the drums beat and beat and beat. The sparks rain down but people from the crowd rush out and dance with the devils.
They circle and pick up more fireworks for their final dances. The fireworks are extinguished and the drummers march away.

The Catalan correfoc is over, some 45 minutes after it began. No one is hurt and this tiny French coastal village is restored to calm.
