Animals

My husband Rick and I have many stuffed animals. We made up stories about their adventures, We took them on trips photographing them with landmarks, a replacement for selfies.

Then our real pup Sherlock joined us, and we paid less attention to the stuffed animals. Part of it was that Sherlock totally intrigued us and partly because any stuffed toy was fodder for a Sherlock attack.

Every now and them we bring the animals out to play. Today, I am telling their stories.

Family portrait of Petite Cougar, Slap, Scooby II and Giggles

Petite Cougar started it. A gift from Rick to reflect our age differences, she fell in love with Scooby Do, my daughter's stuffed animal. When Scooby Do left to return to the states, Petite Cougar was pregnant. Scooby II was a handful going where he shouldn't.

On a trip to Salem MA, Petite Cougar and Scooby Do had a reunion. She named her Giggles. Scooby Do continued to ignore his responsibilities.

Slap, the blue-tailed beaver, we met in Montreal. He fell head over heels in love with Petite Cougar and didn't care that she had two children. He loved them too. They loved him as well. After some time, he persuaded Petite Cougar to marry him.

They were married on the steps of the 13th century church in Argelès-sur-mer. Human friends came too to join the newlyweds in champagne and chocolate wedding cake.

Shamrock shows Sanders from Bern what happens to most lobsters

Shamrock is a cross gender lobster that came to visit with my daughter who is also from Boston, and s/he never went home, Shamrock, that is, not my daughter. My daughter went home.

We invited Sanders to live with us when we were going through a Bern market.

Scooby II and Scowt discuss art...or maybe they are planning a heist.

Scooby II was fascinated by the sculpture of a dog during his Edinburgh stay. A bagpipe player on Princes Street caught his attention. Also listening was Scowt, a typical Scottish cow. He invited Scowt back to Switzerland. The two boys spend a lot of time thinking up tricks to play on the others.

Now they are all with us in Geneva. There are some stuffed rabbits back in Argelès holding down the fort.

We will try over the next few months try to pay more attention to our stuffed friends.

Stay tuned. Film at 11.
