Violence begats Violence

The revelation in Vanity Fair that America supplied arms to Fatah to overthrow Hamas, after Hamas was democratically elected in an election, that had far less problems than the US 2000 and 2004 elections, leaves me despondent.

I am angry when I think of all the deaths, American and Iraqi, allegedly to bring democracy to the Middle East, but when a certified democratic election was held, the elected government is not given a chance to govern by the Americans coercing other European nations to strangle it.

I was angry when I saw the Israeli propaganda from Hollywood with stars and smiling Israeli children flown in to show the danger of the rocket attacks. Granted, Israel has suffered, and innocent people have died, but their right to protect themselves does not give them the right to destroy. Last week Israelis killed over 100 people, including a three-month old (terrorist?). The overall statistic is 40 Palestine deaths to every one Israeli. Americans gets only one side of the story.

Israeli has refused to negotiate until the attacks stop BUT there have been periods when the attacks have been stopped, but still they did not negotiate.

BBC reported this morning that the condition of the Palestinians has not been worse since the occupation began in 1967. Between their homes, fields and services destroyed by Israel, it is not surprising they fight back? What is their alternative? Wait to be wiped out, I suppose.

As always violence is begetting violence. Israel was born on out violence in the 1940s, for although the Jewish people have been there for centuries, it was almost never a nation. If we think it were, then we should give a good part of America back to the Cherokee Nation, the Sioux nation.
