Communication

Rick and I are both communication specialists. We've been journalists and spent years in marketing and public relations. In that's how we met -- at a marketing conference.

We have probably written millions and millions of words between us over the years and published in many types of publications. We've given speeches, run webinars, etc.

You would think we never would miscommunicate.

It's a good thing we have a sense of humor.

Here's just one example.

My beloved usually does the supermarket shopping. We both do the green grocer, baker, butcher, paper store, etc. We keep a running list that reduces running out of stuff.

What's Novis," he said before a trip to the grocery store called Contact.

Between my Boston accent and speaking Franglais, clarification can be necessary and as good communication people we usually will.

Novis, novis, novis, I thought. It made no sense to me. Not a French product, certainly. No spice...hmmm

I looked at the list and burst out laughing. I'd started to date the shopping lists. "Nov. 15," I said.
