Nov. 14 Sherlok A.K.A. Spider

The Nov. 14th Flash Fiction prompt was to write a letter to yourself or about yourself. We are almost halfway through our flash fiction piece a day for the month of November.

Dear Mrs. Nelson

Thank you for your letter about your rescue dog Sherlock a.k.a. Spider. We understand why you want to know more about his first few weeks with his brothers and sisters and his early signs of independence. We appreciate how he tries to talk to you with different barks, and do not feel badly that you have problems translating the series of barks, whines, whimpers and sighs as well as his body language of wiggles, tail wags, and ear signals. We always suspected he was intelligent and are impressed with his understanding of several hundred words as you claim, especially ice cream. Thank you for telling us.

However, when we accept a two month old puppy as we did with Sherlock a.k.a. Spider, we only get basic information, such as number of puppies in the littler (4), breed (Yorkie, Griffon—and according to the DNA test results you supplied us with Jack Russell and Mini Pincher). In Sherlock’s a.k.a. Spider’s case, we did not get the information of the surrendering dog owner and if we had we would need their permission to supply that to you.

We are thrilled you love your dog so much.

Best of luck with Sherlock a.k.a. Spider,

Anne-Marie Gaudet

Director, SPA Perpignan
